Project Description
When a developer approached us looking to build a highly sustainable office project similar to The Terry Thomas, we jumped at the opportunity. Located on a site in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, the so-called ‘Center of the Universe,’ the project offers ample opportunities to be a good neighbor.
Ambitious landscaping with a series of bioswales along the east edge of the site will retain and treat rainwater runoff from Troll Avenue and the Aurora Bridge. This on-site treatment will clean water prior to discharge in Lake Union, or allow it to be reused on site if applicable.
Well connected and multi-modal, the site offers excellent bike and public open space access. A pedestrian pass-through runs south to north through the site, connecting N 34th Street to A.B. Ernst Park and an adjacent future park.
The project will represent timeless design, at once a destination and a patch in the quirky quilt work of Fremont. It will use natural materials and human scale to give the modern design additional character and warmth that suits the diverse neighborhood fabric.
