Project Description
International artist, Florian Depenthal, owns a residence on an interior lot in the Venetian Islands on Miami Beach. He purchased the adjoining lot behind the existing residence so that an art studio could be constructed where he could paint and store his art. Natural light was of utmost importance as well as indoor/outdoor living features.
The Tropical Modern design creates an indoor/outdoor experience for Depenthal. The studio is located on a lot that adjoins the residence at the rear. A swimming pool with a deck is located between the residence and the art studio building.
The two-story building consists of 3,041 sq. ft. with a large open art space on the first level and a loft on the mezzanine level.
Choeff designed the live/work space with the objective to provide as much natural light as possible. The front and rear of the building open via sliders blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor.
The loft area features a kitchenette, and has room for art storage.
Materials used were stucco and the frames are clear anodized aluminum. Clear impact resistant glass was used as well and tile is the predominant floor finish.
