Project Description

di Domenico + Partners provided Transit Oriented Development planning and prototypical design components for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail extension, which is a substantial addition to the Washington Metro’s architecturally distinctive and well-renowned transit system. Design investigations and alternative concepts were prepared for stations, bridges, and entries, providing a framework for future growth while taking aesthetic cues from the Northern Virginia landscape and the iconic Metro vault. Sustainable design elements include a passenger environment infused with natural light and engineered for maximum natural ventilation, along with the selection of environmentally responsible materials. dD+P served as the Design Architect, retained through the completion of Phase I Preliminary Design.
