As the exclusive builder in Grand Marion, a neighborhood in the master-planned community of Woodforest, we had the opportunity to create a distinctive style for the enclave. In this case, we chose classic Southern architecture that would be complemented by the surrounding forested areas and offer impressive views along Woodforest Golf Club, which borders many of the homesites. Our home designs for Grand Marion include porches, balconies, columns, shutters and other traditional Southern elements. The model home is over-the-top, with 60 columns defining the wraparound porch and balcony and a cupola that filters light to the circular staircase below. Like the other home designs, the model has a four-car garage and an expansive family room/kitchen combination that requires steel framing to support the desired spans. Homes in Grand Marion also have extended first floors, with guest suites, game rooms and media rooms found on the first level. Homes have been specifically designed for each property, which presented an interesting challenge for our team. Several of the homesites face a circular park, requiring us to splay our home placement to follow the curve of the street. Also, homes had to be designed for properties that were narrower in front than in back, as well as for standard lot configurations. Grand Marion will be a neighborhood of grand Southern charm, with expansive homes of approximately 4,600 square feet, broad porches and balconies suited for lazy afternoons and unparalleled luxurious living.
