Project Description
Quinn Evans Architects worked in a design-build partnership with Gilbane Building Company in the modernization and expansion for this aging urban elementary school. The resulting design exemplifies green design and maintains and improves the school’s connection to the surrounding neighborhood.
Through the restoration and modernization of the historic building, strategic reconfigurations, and a new addition, the facility is transformed from a defunct school which was slated to be entirely replaced into a high-performance 21st century educational environment. The project earned Gold certification from USGBC - the first DC Public School facility to earn this distinction.
