Once reviled and dubbed the "Plywood Palace," the minimalist exterior and diagonal siting of the rhomboid-shaped John Hancock tower has become a Boston icon. The 62-story skyscraper could have easily imposed on surrounding structures, but instead it pays deference to the adjacent historic Trinity Church and the surrounding city through the reflections of mirrored windows.
