Project Description

This project was the second phase of the renovations of Lowry Hill Aerie. The kitchen was outdated and the family room was cramped because of its bulky and poorly placed cabinetry and radiators. Our client wanted a contemporary design and bold new spaces that would complement his extensive art collection.

The new dark grey Canadian marble floor provides a dramatic base that contrasts strongly with the cabinetry. In-floor heat allowed the radiators and perimeter cabinetry to be removed, adding a feeling of openness in the family room. The wood cabinets are made with beautiful figured Japanese ash and finished to preserve the lightness of the veneer. The deep red of the lower cabinets is an ultra-high gloss finish which gives an unusual depth to surface. Grey backpainted glass countertops provide a clean and minimalist work surface. The clear glass cantilevered top of the island was carefully detailed to highlight the Trove wallpaper inset in an aluminum frame.

This home was featured in the spring 2013 Kitchen Trends magazine.
