Project Description
This is an example of signage on our vehicles working as an effective marketing tool. This bathroom was upstairs, which always brings with it challenges. We were to remove an interior wall that separated the dressing area with the bathing area. The client asked us if we would raise the vanity and re-face it rather than replace it. Even though I explained it to be less expensive to replace it. The client was symmetric in her thinking when it came to design issues, so it was important to her that any and all accent features align in a symmetric sort of way. We were to install glass accents in a vertical pattern in her shower, so we started the accents first, to ensure they were centered on each wall and added the tile in either direction from there. She also desired to have a double rolling door to the entrance into the bathroom from the bedroom. Her floor was 5/8" out of level in 4 ft. along that cased opening, so we had our challenges to keep the track level and the doors parallel to the floor to some degree. I think we achieved an acceptable finish to that challenge. Another thing she asked for was to shorten the length of time it took for hot water to get upstairs. We replaced her water heater with an on-demand heater. She wanted the shower to have a more open feel to it, from the old cave-like shower they were used to. The ceiling of the old shower was even 12" lower with tile all around. We removed the false ceiling and the partition wall and used frameless glass to make it as open as possible. There was approx. 12" of a shaft behind the toilet that provided a chase for plumbing vent and other utilities to pass through so it set the width of the new shower.
