Project Description

Located in the Ozark Mountains of north central Arkansas, the house is sited near a ridge and is a week-end retreat for the owners. The upper level consists of living, dining, kitchen, laundry and bedroom areas while the earth sheltered lower level provides space for a safe room and future media center and bedroom. The exterior finishes are painted fiber cement board and unpainted steel panels. South-facing windows and sliding doors in the living and master bedroom areas offer stunning views of the mountains, day lighting, and solar heat gain in winter months. The large south roof overhang shades the windows in the hot summer months. Wood flooring, exposed wood structure, and natural wood trim and doors create a warm interior.
