Project Description
The project is the relocation of a 32,000 sf trading firm to a high-rise in downtown Chicago. The space positions the client as a progressive leader within a state-of-the-art trading environment. Promoting a more interactive, effective work process, the space also serves to attract young talent and reflect the energetic culture of the firm. The design team translated the energy of the market and firm's pulse into the built environment using architectural forms with dynamic angles and highlights of vivid color. Stepping off the elevators, one immediately sees the space’s most iconic feature: an illuminated jagged line, an allusion to a stock chart’s fluctuations over time. The line cuts through a facetted metal surface, conducting people from the elevator lobby and through the reception area before ultimately arriving at the entrance to the boardroom. The client believes that the success of the company depends on the sharing of knowledge between employees. Collaborative areas, break spaces and the lounge provide a balance within the environment and support increased social interaction and the firm's culture. Designed in a more intimate scale and incorporating wood, these spaces bring warmth and a richer sense of comfort.
