Project Description
Patriot Pointe in Columbus, Georgia is a 100 unit, Senior Housing development. The site was previously run down public housing before development of the new project. The site lies in between two major streets in Columbus, Fort Benning Road and Chapman Way. The building is a 3-story, double loaded corridor layout with a sequence of spaces linking the front to back. There are small seating areas throughout the corridor and elevator lobbies to facilitate informal social interaction. The main clubroom on the first floor serves as a community space to encourage residents and staff to socialize and create a space for daily interaction. The senior residence units are 100% accessible. Five of the units are equipped for mobility disabled residents including roll-in showers and two of the units are building for learning and site impaired residents. All units feature large walk-in closets and space for full washer/dryers. Every unit at the front door features a shelf for seniors to display personal memorabilia and therefore becomes a memory clue as to the location of their units on a long corridor of identical doors. The exterior of the building has a transitional/contemporary style with a subdued color scheme incorporating over 40% brick and limestone accented with warm detail. The entire community is designed to meet Earthcraft Multifamily and Neighborhood standards, which includes energy star appliances as well as a quarter mile walking trail around the property.
