Project Description
Seegers Student Union is a landmark building and the center of student life at Muhlenberg College. The renovation and expansion is a major enhancement of the existing facility, with an addition of 30,000 square feet and extensive system upgrades. The program includes a 600-seat dining operation, student activity spaces, lounges, retail, student services, and offices.
The design reinforces the importance of the student union on campus, framing the campus quad. Inside, the dining experience is designed for increased efficiency, comfort, and choice. The expanded servery offers made-to-order meals with extended vegetarian, vegan, and kosher menu options.
Designed for LEED certification, the project includes high-efficiency exhaust hoods; heat recovery air-handling units; photovoltaic panels; a central refrigeration system with cold-air winter economizer; a food waste pulping system; waterless urinals and dual-flush toilets.
