Project Description
Located along the Jialing River in a newly built urban district of Chongqing, Longfor Starry Street is a six level, 600m long restaurant and entertainment district at the base of a vast hi-rise multifamily residential project. The main design challenge was to provide overall project and tenant identity for the external facades, and to create a sense of place for the central drop-off and arrival zone.
At the central lobby, a terraced, orange-clad Picture Frame allows a space for views of the river and informal performances and gatherings. Adjacent to the Picture Frame a wooden Jewel Box is highlighted by its staggered frit glass pattern and color changing LED lighting. The spaces within and around the Jewel Box and Picture Frame Buildings provide overlook terraces and vertical gallery spaces ideal for public art exhibitions, new product roll outs and other seasonal festivals and displays.
The integration of inside and outside providing a visceral connection to the river and skyline of the Chongqing, and provide a focal point for the project that can be seen from a distance. Inside, walls and floors are clad in cream colored limestone, warm wood and champagne-bronzed metal.
Each of the eight vertical circulation lobbies is identified by large numeric super graphics and LED-illuminated frit entry glass, with elevator walls accented with brightly colored glass surrounds and warm textured stone.
Tenant identities are integrated into sloped back-lit pylons and panel signs in the lobby’s glass walls, balancing the project’s overall brand with the individual personality of each tenant.
With its exciting riverfront location, the Longfor Starry Street project is a unique retail project that provides a premier destination for leisure, restaurants and public gathering in Chongqing.
