Project Description
The Claude Moore Medical Education Building is the flagship building for the UVA School of Medicine. It contains a mix of educational environments supporting its new curricula, pedagogies and group activity-oriented learning modalities. New facilities and technologies combine traditional teaching modes with experiential learning. Elements include mock exam rooms for clinical teaching and assessment, small-group classrooms with multimedia capabilities, and teaching spaces for both didactic instruction and small-group interaction. Signature elements are the Medical Simulation Center, a multi-disciplinary training and research facility, and the Charles W. Hurt, M.D. Learning Studio, one of the nation’s largest learning studios. The LEED Silver-certified design respects UVA’s architectural traditions, yet creates a modern, iconic presence for the School of Medicine. CO Architects: Executive & Design Architect; Train & Partners Architects: Associate Architect
