Project Description
Recently remodeled, the Third Street House is a vertical intermediary between the mountains and plains. The couple that came to Arch11 to do the remodel did so because they knew Arch11 was the firm that first designed the home in 1996. The result of the remodel is a simplified, unique space featuring a connective spine that both differentiates and connects living areas. From the kitchen, which acts as the “nerve-center,” and various viewpoints around the house, inhabitants enjoy specific views of the surrounding landscape through strategically placed windows.
“Remodeling it was like rewriting a paper that one had done years earlier,” says Arch11 founding principle E.J. Meade. “We were able to edit out some of our early design weaknesses and exuberance.”
