Project Description
The Gulch is an area on the edge of downtown Nashville where the train yards and associated support buildings for the rail industry were historically located. Now, as the neighborhood is developing into a dynamic center for urban living, shopping and dining, The Gulch has become the most active construction zone in the city.
With all of the new developments come a variety of aesthetics and elements resulting in a fragmented context of architectural styles. To counter this highly textured context, the design approach for Twelve I Twelve was elegance based on simplicity. Additionally, the economic savings realized by utilizing efficient massing forms and straight stacking the tower over the above-ground structured parking allowed for higher end finishes, higher quality common spaces and lush amenity deck experiences.
The crystalline glass tower is divided into 2 masses through the simple move of recessing a slot down the center of each end, resulting in more elegantly proportioned forms. A metal panel "ribbon" delineates the 2 masses while uniting the concept by winding around the forms and ultimately grounding at the retail entry.
The building features 286 one and two bedroom residences, two and three bedroom penthouses and two guest suites available for the residents’ use. Each unit features floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the surrounding downtown areas.
