Project Description
The new Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s state-of-the-art media technology and innovative design encourages engagement, sharing and cross-disciplinary learning in a high-tech environment.
Crafted around a central “village green” concept, the open, multi-story framework facilitates the seamless, uninterrupted flow of both traffic and ideas, promoting teamwork and collaboration among students and faculty as they partner together to research, develop content and produce media. This central atrium is utilized as a multi-level gathering space, establishing a central, orienting hub that connects the structure’s five floors across a variety of learning spaces.
Reflecting current pedagogical best practices, traditional learning spaces are intertwined with flexible, informal learning zones that promote serendipitous encounters and unstructured idea exchange. Moveable walls and furniture adapt learning spaces for both individual and group instruction, supporting a wide range of teaching and learning styles.
