Project Description
The home is in a protected forest within Sarasota county, all trees and plants must be saved within the site. The home is precast double tees, precast beams and columns with 6in hollow core roof panels. Think of a parking garage and now you have the building. The exterior walls are steel SIP WALL 6in thick with an R60 rating and a 200 mile per hour wind rating. 5 of the double Tees weight 54,250 lbs and are 60ft long. Trucks had to back down 500ft of winding road to get to the site, before the Grove 150 ton crane could set the precast sections. It only took the precast company 5 days to erect the 3 story structure. The roof is 6in hollow core plus 4in concrete with 8in of tapered insulation and a Firestone rubber roof. The home was started September 9, 2012 and the owner moved in of Feburary 7, 2013.
