Last week on vacation in Florida, my family and I visited the Green Cay Wetlands, a constructed wetland and nature preserve that also serves as the final-stage treatment facility for municipal wastewater. While strolling the elevated boardwalk, we saw a greater variety of wildlife than we saw on a later trip to the Everglades, including an alligator with its young, the rare least bittern, and a baby bobcat asleep in the brush. Pretty impressive. --b.d.s.
