In recent business news from Cree, effective Nov. 7, 2016, Daniel Castillo will assume the role of President, Lighting. In this position, Castillo will direct both the commercial and consumer lighting businesses and report directly to Cree chairman and CEO Chuck Swoboda. Castillo, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, most recently was Senior Vice President, Oil, Gas and IEC Assemblies at Eaton. Prior to this, Castillo held several leadership positions in lighting and electrical product areas at both Cooper Industries and General Electric.

“The opportunity to work with a proven leader in LED innovation in the still early stages of LED lighting adoption is compelling,” said Castillo in a prepared statement. “I look forward to working with the Cree Lighting team to deliver operational excellence and enhanced customer value across the business.”

Swoboda noted, “The addition of Danny Castillo to the leadership team brings valuable industry expertise and proven business leadership to Cree as we scale the business to the next level.” Based in Durham, N.C., Cree’s “…product families include LED lighting systems and bulbs, blue and green LED chips, high-brightness LEDs, lighting-class power LEDs, power-switching devices and RF devices.”
