On Nov. 30, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science will announce a funding opportunity for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Through this grant opportunity, the DOE will solicit applications for funding directed toward FY16 Phase I, Release 2 projects. Topics for this funding opportunity were previously announced on Nov. 2, and can be downloaded at: http://science.energy.gov/sbir/funding-opportunities. The topic title is “Buildings,” and the subtopic title is “Energy Efficient Solid-State Lighting Luminaires, Products, and Systems” (see topic 11a, page 42).

According to the news release: “Qualified small businesses with strong research capabilities in science or engineering in any of the research areas sought in the announcement are encouraged to apply for the SBIR/STTR funding opportunity. Applicants must submit a letter of intent by Dec. 21, 2015, in order to be eligible to submit a full application by Feb. 9, 2016.
