Clifford Starr, the chief lighting designer at New York City-based Lighting by Gregory has been elected the new president of the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY).
Starr has been an active member of the group, serving as a board member for five years, and most recently as vice president. Star succeeds Lana Lenar, principal at zeroLUX Lighting Design.
“To carry its mission forward, the DLFNY identifies and promotes members of the lighting and design community in the New York metro area to lead and evolve the organization and Cliff is an ideal choice,” Lenar said in a press statement. “With his long standing relationships and knowledge of the NYC design community, Cliff will continue to expand membership and deliver informative and insightful lighting programs. [He] promises to be a great president for our organization.”
Starr has been working in the lighting industry for more than 30 years focusing on design and project management for a portfolio of well over 1,500 residential, commercial, hospitality and retail projects. An active industry participant, Starr is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society and the American Society of Interior Designer, in addition to the DLFNY. On his new role with the DLFNY Starr said, “One of my goals as president is to encourage the chapter’s growth in the design profession by increasing promotion of our education and networking events by expanding our reach to the design community.” For more about the DLFNY and its calendar of events, go to its website
