Italian lighting company, Flos has announced that beginning September 2016, Jack Schreur will step into the role of CEO of its Flos USA subsidiary. He will oversee all North American Flos Group—Flos USA and Lukas Lighting—operations. Schreur succeeds Jan Vingerhoets who was with the company for six years.

Prior to his joining Flos, Schreur was with Herman Miller, a leading American manufacturer of office furniture, equipment and home furnishings headquartered in Michigan. There, he held several leadership positions and most recently served as the vice president of the Herman Miller Collection and Geiger. He has an extensive background in and knowledge of the design world and the contract market as well as “…the direct-to-consumer business, having overseen the retail and digital channels for Herman Miller.”

Flos CEO Piero Gandini said in a prepared statement, “With his great talent and broad experience in building and developing businesses, Jack Schreur is the right leader to achieve our growth ambitions in the North American market and I look forward to his leadership at Flos USA. Please join me in welcoming Jack to the Flos Group and wishing him all the best in his new endeavor.”

Flos was established in 1962 in Merano, Italy. It provides lighting solutions for both the residential and architectural markets, and its products have always been associated with a high level of design. Over the course of its 50-plus-year history, the company has developed an extensive catalogue of iconic luminaires by noted designers such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Gino Sarfatti, Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio, Piero Lissoni, Marcel Wanders, Konstantin Grcic, Jasper Morrison, Patricia Urquiola, Ron Gilad, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and Michael Anastassiades.

In November 2014, the private equity fund Investindustrial invested in Flos, as the company mapped out its continued growth and international expansion. In June 2015, Flos acquired Italian architectural outdoor lighting company Ares; the outdoor division became the Group’s fourth production unit, alongside the historical design, architectural, and custom products divisions. In November 2015 Flos acquired New York-based Lukas Lighting, a lighting company that specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of custom lighting products. Today, Flos exports to more than 70 countries worldwide and has single-brand stores in Rome, Milan, Paris, Lyon, New York, Stockholm, and Hong Kong.
