In conjunction with Salone del Mobile in Milan this week, global furniture brand Herman Miller unveiled its newest addition, the Cosm task chair line, as part of its exhibition "For You Everyone," held at its local showroom. Designed by Berlin-based Studio 7.5, the swivel chairs aim to conform to anybody's posture without the need for manual adjustments.
Cosm utilizes Herman Miller's proprietary auto-harmonic tilt technology, "which instantly provides balanced support and movement corresponding to the user’s body, posture, and seated position," according to a company press release, and is also the "culmination of two decades of engineering and design research with a deep understanding of the science behind how people sit and work."
The streamlined chairs come in a variety of muted or vibrant frame and backing colors including glacier, graphite, and canyon—which can all be mixed and matched for customization. Cosm chairs are available in low-, mid-, and high-back configurations and can be specified with no arms, fixed arms, or leaf arms. A selection of casters and glides are also offered.
"Beyond the exhibit, in the Herman Miller Milan showroom and design center, Cosm will be installed in a variety of work environments so visitors can try out Cosm in its natural habitat," the same release states. "This take on the furniture display celebrates the ways in which Cosm’s adaptability lets people make their work environment work for them."
