In July 2008, Osram Opto Semiconductors development engineers attained new records of efficiency and brightness of white LEDs in the laboratory. Under standard conditions using white prototype LEDs with 1mm-square chips, brightness reached 155 lumens with an efficiency of 136 lm/W. The light produced a color temperature of 5000K.
