Stone Forest says stone basins date back to Shinto shrines, where they held water for ritual cleansing. The Santa Fe, N.M., fabricator hand-carves its basins in the Japanese tradition. Its Large Wabi Basin, for example, is fashioned from a single green granite boulder, with approximate measurements of 24 inches to 34 inches wide by 6 inches high.
