The American Institute of Architects, Georgia Association recently announced the winners of this year’s Design Awards, which recognizes design excellence by Georgian architects. The jury chose 14 projects in three categories, which includes two excellence awards, five honor awards, and seven merit awards. The winners include a mixed-use single family home and studio, a gravity-defying totem pole, and an urban park proposal from an architectural student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The People’s Choice Award was determined by popular vote of the general public, and was awarded to Riverside Epicenter, which is a recreation center in Atlanta that serves as a safe haven for the city’s at-risk youth.
