Project Description

This project explores design opportunities to improve and revitalize alleys throughout Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square. The design team is composed of Olson Kundig Architects, SvR Design Company (the prime contractor) and New York-based lighting designer Leni Schwendinger. The team will work with the community to develop an alley prototype that can be used to guide the redevelopment of all Pioneer Square alleys. The final deliverable will be a “shovel-ready” design to be implemented for two pilot alleys, Nord Alley and Pioneer Passage.

The International Sustainability Institute (ISI), a Seattle-based not-for-profit organization, commissioned the project.
