This year's AIA Indiana Design Awards went to 14 Indiana-based firms that completed projects throughout the state, as well as in Colorado and Haiti. The awards, presented during the Ohio Valley Regional Convention in Columbus, Ohio , were given in categories of new construction with a project cost greater than $1 million; preservation/adaptive reuse/renovation; interior architecture with a project cost greater than $1 million; and non-traditional projects. Merit and citation awards were also given to new construction projects with a project cost greater than $1 million; new construction with a project cost less than $1 million; preservation/adaptive reuse/renovation, and interior architecture with a project cost less than $1 million. Archonics Design Partnership received the 25-year for their work on Hilbert Circle Theater, adding significant cultural revitalization to downtown Indianapolis.
The jury was made up of Tom Savory, AIA, founder and principal of Watson Tate Savory in the Carolinas; Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, chair of the Clemson School of Architecture; Chris Rose, AIA, founder and principal of Christopher Rose Architects in South Carolina; and Chuck Hultstrand, AIA, principal of LS3P.
