This week, we're sharing projects from Chicago to Latvia and Brazil, with several stops in between. In addition to the projects that we cover in detail, we highlight work that architecture firms share with us every day through Project Gallery, the user-generated portion of ARCHITECT's website. To date, we have more than 15,000 projects.

Boston Dynamics Headquarters + Lab Facilities, Waltham, Mass.
Bergmeyer
"Spanning three levels, the 180,000-square-foot facility was built within an existing space. Leveraging the building’s sectional qualities, the mezzanine was extended to create cantilevered meeting rooms overlooking the robotics labs. Multiple laboratories were designed to support their people and creations, from fabrication, engineering, and bringing their sophisticated robots to market."

2177 3rd St., San Francisco
Woods Bagot
"The building is designed to a human scale, balancing privacy and views—in spite of its 114 apartments and 4,000 square feet of retail. At midblock, a deep setback, framed by the five-storey living wall, introduces breathing space into the building’s bulk. The dark bronze of the façade takes its cues from the area’s industrial history: once the home of European immigrants, the Dogpatch was originally called 'Dutchman’s Flat.'"

House With Four Roofs, Riga, Latvia
GAISS
"The challenge of the project was to transform the peculiarity of an L-shaped plot into a spatial quality. A narrow part of the green parcel is connected to the adjoining street. To maximize land efficiency a section of the house is positioned on this stretch while forming a focus towards the garden in the wider area on the back."

The Post Office, Chicago
Gensler
"The team carefully restored the building’s façade, main lobby, Post Master’s suite and historic corridors to start, and then moved to interior programming and design. With a focus on worker wellness, collaboration, connection, and enjoyment, amenities were brought to life on a grand scale."

30 Van Ness, San Francisco
Solomon Cordwell Buenz
"Clad in a rich texture of linen-hued panels with deep, bronze-toned window surrounds, the building’s façade is detailed with delicate twists and features a prominently chiseled corner. The building’s nine-story podium is comprised of 234,000 square feet of open office space surrounded by walls of expansive electrochromic glass, allowing customizable access to daylight year-round."

Machado Meyer Advogados Office, São Paulo, Brazil
Perkins&Will Architects
"This is how Perkins&Will imagined the new headquarters for the renowned law firm Machado Meyer Advogados, which occupies eight floors of a new corporate building in Faria Lima Avenue, in São Paulo. The design’s main pillars are integration and encouragement of interpersonal relations."

The Patio House, Ningbo, China
Atelier Right Hub
"Atelier Right Hub recently completed a 350-square-meter private residence in a high-end villa community in Ningbo. The client’s mandate was simple: 'Give me three bedrooms, the remaining space is kept transparent, and this project that will challenge the conventional notion of what a house should be.'"

Polyvalent Theater, Lille, France
Lacaton & Vassal Architectes
"In the volume of variable height, following the slope of the garden, the auditorium takes up the central area. Freed from load-bearing elements, it is equipped with movable and modular bleachers and a staging area in the forefront."

New Home for The First 72+, New Orleans
OJT
Located in New Orleans, the New Home for The First 72+ aims to provide formerly incarcerated individuals with stable housing, developing a transitional housing prototype in Lousiana, a state with highest per capita prison population in the country and a recidivism rate of 34%. Developed by the local non-profit The First 72+, the 3,200-square-foot project can house up to eight occupants on a lot zoned for two-family residence. The project's sensitivity and smart design earned it a citation in ARCHITECT's 68th Annual Progressive Architecture Awards, announced in the magazine's March 2021 issue.
