The world's most famous architect is throwing his support behind the incumbent in November's election.
Frank Gehry, FAIA, is joining a stellar panel of artists—including John Baldessari, Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, Claes Oldenburg, and others—in a fund-raising effort for President Barack Obama. Together, 19 artists (including Gehry) are donating prints and drawings for a series of 150 limited-edition portfolios.
David Ng reports in the Los Angeles Times that the group, under the name "Artists for Obama," will give donors a portfolio in exchange for a political donation to the Obama campaign of $28,000. The proceeds, which will go to the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee, could total $4.2 million.
The portfolios are being assembled through the Los Angeles print shop Gemini G.E.L. According to the report, Gehry is the lone architect in the "Artists for Obama" campaign.
