On Oct. 14, the Smithsonian's Asian Art museum pair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., known together as the Freer|Sackler, will reopen following some scheduled upgrades and renovations. While the Charles Platt–designed Freer Gallery of Art has been closed since January 2016 for the project, the Smithsonian announced today that the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery will also close to the public on July 10 for installations and "to refresh elements of the facility."
