Just two weeks ago, I found myself traveling up Signal Mountain in Chattanooga, Tenn., for a wedding (congrats, John and Eleanor!). There I passed by the notorious Spaceship House, which has just been listed as available for rent on Craigslist. A few things about the Spaceship House:

It was built by Curtis King in 1973. Its long history was recounted by The Wall Street Journal back in 2008.

Every Christmas, the owner bedecks the Spaceship House with a festive inflatable alien wearing a jaunty Santa hat.

The Spaceship House is cursed, according to the cab driver who drove me to the wedding.

A three-bedroom, 2,000-square-foot Spaceship House in Tennessee rents for far less than the much smaller and not-at-all spaceship-shaped house I rent in Washington, D.C.

The Spaceship House is cool, but it is not as cool as the Duck in Long Island, N.Y. (greatly admired by Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates).
