JVA is an award-winning architecture and interior design firm. Since 1991 we have focused solely on residential design in NYC, specializing in custom townhouse gut renovations, new ground-up townhouses, landmark restorations and rooftop additions. Our projects also include pre and postwar apartment and loft renovations, and interior design.We are a group of creative problem solvers with a taste for well-crafted design. The homes we design are well balanced, focus on bringing in natural light, use warm materials, and are executed with a rarefied attention to detail. We do not have a signature style. It is not modern, traditional or contemporary. Each project is a unique collaboration with our client- learning how they live and what design style suits their tastes to the spirit of the space and the technical aspects of how to make the home functional and efficient.
One of the distinguishing factors of our firm is that all projects are executed in 3D software from concept through completion. Clients have a unique experience where the design is altered and evolved in the 3D model during design meetings, allowing them to be more intimately involved in the process of designing their home. We also provides clients with 3D files to peruse on their phone, tablet or computer at their leisure so the can be truly comfortable with the design. They regularly remark the complete home is "just like the model.”
Our work has been published in a variety of publications including Vogue, House & Garden, Architectural Record, Creating the New American Townhouse, and The New York Times to name a few. Our Soho townhouse project won Interior Design Magazine’s 2020 NYCxDesign Award for Best Freestanding House/Townhouse, the 2020 Honor Award for Architectural Interiors from the Society Of American Registered Architects, and National Stone Institute’s 2020 Pinnacle Award for Residential, Single Family Home.
