Both natural and manmade occurrences inspire a product’s form. This collection of luminaires, finishes, and seating are informed by a range of influences—from undulating water to timeworn concrete walls, and to the desire for modularity in living spaces.
Scotch Club, Marset
Inspired by the form of a disco ball, the 72 interior faces of the Scotch Club pendant’s geometric shade reflect warm light while its exterior adds visual interest to a space. The glazed shade is fired four times and is offered in white, blue, terracotta, and black ceramic colors with either a white or a gold enamel interior. Three sizes are offered, each suspended 6’ from the ceiling. Also available in wall- and ceiling-mounted versions.
Basketweave, Chilewich
Chilewich is growing its Basketweave line of floor and wallcoverings with four metallic colorways that use bi-color yarns to create contrast. The woven collection is made from the company’s TerraStrand yarns that are phthalate-free and contain 25% renewable vegetable content. The antimicrobial product is Green Label Plus–certified. Available in sienna, mineral blue, galvanized steel, and brushed copper.
Bikini Island, Werner Aisslinger for Moroso
First crafted by German designer Werner Aisslinger for the hotel 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin in Berlin and showcased at Salone in 2013, the Bikini Island collection of modular residential seating is now being released by Moroso. Plush seats in three heights face multiple directions to accommodate the versatility of family-oriented living spaces.
ConcreteWall, Resource Furniture
Resource Furniture collaborated with Norwegian photographer Tom Haga to replicate hi-resolution images of timeworn concrete, brick, wood, cinder block, and graffiti on sheets of UV-resistant, non-woven vinyl wallpaper. ConcreteWall is made from a single image and without repetition. It can span walls up to 4.1’ wide and 82’ long.
Axor Starck V, Axor
Hansgrohe’s high-end brand, Axor, teamed up with designer Phillippe Starck to create a transparent faucet mixer that lets users watch their water rise and spin through the tap and to the basin. The Axor Starck V features a transparent crystal spout that can swivel and be removed from its base, which comes in chrome or a white powdercoat. The fixture offers a flow rate of approximately 1 gpm and is available as a single-lever and two-hole basin mixer. Available in Europe beginning in September.
Silence, Bolon
Swedish studio Bolon designed a new line of phthalate-free woven carpet tiles, sheets, and planks that emulate the look of tweed. The Silence collection is available in nine colors and with an optional sound-deadening backer.
