Project Description
Valley Children’s Specialty Care Center in Bakersfield, California is the first in a network of three strategically located pediatric care centers that will serve California’s Central Valley. Specialty clinics, administrative and service spaces are clustered around a grand atrium ‘Life Center.’ The Life Center is a warm, welcoming multi-story oval space that serves as a main lobby and central reception area that offers amenities and entertainment to keep both children and families occupied. With color, art, daylight and a strong indoor-outdoor connection, the project redefines expectations for pediatric clinics. The project creates a unique health experience for children and families, seeking to ease the anxieties of young patients and has even brought a little fun and lightheartedness to going to the doctor.
