Dezeen's Jenna McKnight shares a concept designed by New York-based firm Rogers Partners in collaboration with landscape architects Nelson Byrd Waltz that would build a floating, tree-lined park atop a highway in Atlanta, Ga.

Dubbed Bulkhead Park Over GA400, the concept will stretch 2,400 feet across a busy highway and commuter railway in a business and residential district in Atlanta. The project will contain retail, restaurant, and public spaces, as well as pedestrian walkways and transit access in the tree-lined park.

In October, city officials are expected to discuss the next phase of the project, which includes preliminary engineering and funding opportunities. "We're very excited to move ahead on this pioneering project," said Jim Durrett, executive director of the Buckhead Community Improvement District. "When Buckhead Park Over GA400 is complete, Atlanta will have a unique, world-class civic space that is both beautiful and functional."
