Late last month, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden released information and renderings about a new project on their New York grounds: the Robert W. Wilson Overlook, designed by local firm Weiss/Manfredi Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism. On Wednesday, the garden held a groundbreaking ceremony for the overlook, which is scheduled to open next year.

Near the Diane H. and Joseph S. Steinberg Visitor Center, also designed by Weiss/Manfredi, the overlook’s 1.25-acre site will be redeveloped to include an accessible “switchback pathway” and “immersive four-season planting scheme of ornamental grasses and perennials,” according to a Brooklyn Botanic Garden press release.
