This week, we're sharing projects from China to Kentucky, Ghana, and Mexico, with several stops in between. In addition to the projects that we cover in detail, we highlight work that architecture firms share with us every day through Project Gallery, the user-generated portion of ARCHITECT's website. To date, we have more than 16,000 projects for your browsing.

"The house is shaped by two separate entities that are connected in a harmonious way with a green roof. Similar [to] a Yin & Yang sign, the two main areas of the house are intertwined. One-half for living, the other half for working.

"Unlocking the centuries old wisdom of the Adinkra symbols, our design sought inspiration from the Denkyem, which symbolizes a crocodile—a creature able to thrive with both air and water that is celebrated for its adaptability and intelligence. Acknowledging that the building design will need to adapt to over 101 locations in different urban and rural settings across the country, the design scheme embraces smart strategies and ecologically responsive systems able to conform to each unique geographic condition."

African Mobilities (3x3), Kampala, Uganda
Adengo Architecture

Brought to life by Doreen Adengo's Kampala, Uganda–based firm Adengo Architecture, the 2018 exhibition "African Mobilities (3x3)" provided "a window into the connections and contributions that African migrants are making in the world," according to the firm's project description. The exhibition used photography, film, cartography, and architecture to investigate the ways Congolese traders and tailors shape Kampala. You can see more work from Adengo Architecture—our latest Next Progressives firm—here.
