While construction work officially started in September, Rice University held a ceremony today to mark the groundbreaking of a new 84,000-square-foot building designed by Allan Greenberg Architect, which has offices in New York and Virginia. The new structure will be part of the Houston university's Music and Performing Arts Center, joining the existing Alice Pratt Brown Hall by Ricardo Bofill, Hon. FAIA, for the Shepherd School of Music. The nearby Moody Center for the Arts by Michael Maltzan Architecture opened earlier this year.
