World’s Largest Vertical Garden

1 MIN READ

A condo tower in Singapore opened in 2013 with the largest vertical garden on earth and incorporates a slew of green features.

At a total of more than 2,300 square meters, the CDL Treehouse condo project set the Guinness World Record for the largest vertical garden in 2014. Covering the facade of the condo skyscraper, the garden is projected to save building residents more than half a million dollars each year on utility costs.

Much like an extra layer of insulation, the vertical garden is just one feature of CDL Treehouse that will improve building efficiency and reduce energy use by about 15 to 30 percent. The project also incorporates motion sensored lights and windows that reduce heat transfer. The color choice of the 24 story condo is also no mistake and will reduce heat absorption much like a cool roof with a light coating.
