On March 19, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) hosted a live webinar on the challenges that female practitioners face in the profession. The panelists were Lori Apfel Cardeli, AIA, senior project architect at McLean, Va.–based Bowers Design Build; Nicole Dosso, AIA, director at Skidmore, Owings & Merrills’s New York office; and Kristine Harding, AIA, NCARB treasurer and principal of KPS Group in Huntsville, Ala. ARCHITECT assistant editor of business, technology, and products Caroline Massie moderated the discussion, which covered topics such as how to handle gender discrimination at the construction site (14:38), find a firm that supports one’s career goals (17:28), and negotiate higher pay with an employer (15:30).
